Community Involvement

At Loxton Lutheran School, we don’t just enrol a student, we welcome a family.

We strive to provide a sense of belonging for all families, regardless of background.  We assist parents in their vital role of primary educators by offering parent workshops on various topics and by offering strategies to support them.  We warmly invite parents and grandparents into the school to contribute to class and school activities and events.

We are Community

Community is at the heart of our school.

Loxton Lutheran School is founded on strong relationships between staff, students, parents, the Parish and the wider community. We are a community that values people from all walks of life as we strive to build and maintain meaningful and lasting relationships with all stakeholders. The warmth of our community and the feeling you get when walking through our doors speaks volumes about who we are, what we value, what we nurture and the vision laid out for the future.

During the course of each year, we facilitate a number of events to help ‘build’ community at LLS.

These include:

Worship and Assembly

We gather together as a whole school each week for worship and for celebrating student learning and achievement.  Our Worship Service and Assembly alternate each Friday afternoon at 2:30pm in the LIFE Centre.  On a rostered basis, classes take the opportunity to lead these special events.  Families and members of the Parish community are invited to join us each week.

Parent Information Night & BBQ

Early in Term 1 each year we hold Parent Information Night.  This is a chance for families to come in and learn about the year ahead, to connect with other families and hear more about how we can all work together to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes for students.  A bbq tea is provided for families and staff during the evening, providing a great opportunity for community building.

Prayer and Catch Up Groups

Each Monday our School Chaplain facilitates an opportunity for parents to connect and build support networks through prayer and catch up groups.  These are generally held each Monday afternoon at School.

Playgroup

Our Loxton Lutheran School Playgroup is held every Monday morning from 9:00am-10:00am.  This is a wonderful opportunity for parents and children to socialise, laugh, share and play.

Continental

Our school continental is one of the biggest events in Loxton each year.  People from right across the Riverland come and sample the wide array of food and enjoy the entertainment on offer.  Parents, staff and students all work together to ensure a great night is had by all.

Riverview Rest Home

Each term, our classes visit the Riverview Rest Home where students and residents connect and play games, sing songs, share stories, showcase learning and have fun.  We take our Book Week Parade over to the Rest Home, whilst residents also come and join us for worship on occasions.

Other Significant Events

Each year we hold a number of significant events which help to foster the building of community within our school.  Parents, Grandparents, and members of the Parish are invited to join us on these special occasions.  These events include Sports Day (Twilight), School Concert, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Book Week Parade, Opening School Worship Service, Volunteers Lunch and End of Year Service.

Happy Parents and Students

Our two children attend LLS, they are both thriving in their learning and social lives at school.

In our experiences the staff have always taken time to meet with us and communicated well. We have been able to work together to achieve success for our children’s learning and wellbeing. Both our children have a strong sense of belonging and look forward to going to school where they have grown strong relationships with both their peers and staff. Our family feels blessed to be part of such a wonderful school.

-Andrew & Nikki Tullett

Our first child really struggled with the transition from home to preschool. It was challenging, overwhelming and exhausting for us all. We knew our road ahead would be a continual battle, so we gave our child a further year in an early learning setting where they could continue to question and analyse the world around them, before sending them off to school.

We were incredibly blessed to have the option to send our child to the Loxton Lutheran School, Early Learning Centre. A safe, calm and nurturing environment where not only educational needs were addressed but more importantly in these tender years, the emotional and social wellbeing needs were met too. There was certainly no hesitation of knowing where to send our second child to begin her preschool journey.

It was a beautiful stepping stone from early learning to school, all in the one location!

– The Row Family.

Our family has been part of the Loxton Lutheran School community since 2012 when our eldest child started at the Early Learning Centre. We have loved being part of such a close, nurturing and caring community. Loxton Lutheran School has motivated and engaged teachers who are committed to helping all students achieve their personal best.
As parents, what has continued to impress us is the school spirit, community involvement and camaraderie between everyone. Our children have benefited from many opportunities to represent the school in the community in the form of camps, excursions, sporting events and the arts.
We have found LLS to be a nurturing environment that has helped to instil morals and values in our children and we would highly recommend Loxton Lutheran School to others.
