How blessed are we to gather together as a school community to commemorate Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent.In our Lutheran tradition, Ash Wednesday marks the start of the season of Lent which is a time of repentance, reflection and renewal as we focus our hearts on Christ. Lent is a 40-day journey where we prepare for Easter, remembering Jesus’ death and celebrating His resurrection.Pastor Jason reminded us that during Lent we can prepare our hearts for Easter in different ways like reading God’s Word, spending time praying, serving others and reflecting on the great love Jesus has shown us.Students were invited to have a small ash cross placed on their forehead or hand as a reminder that we belong to God, that we can say sorry and turn back to Him when we make mistakes, and that our hope and joy are found in Jesus. Our school community enjoyed a delicious start to the lead-up to Lent as we celebrated Shrove Tuesday, the traditional feast before the fast. Historically, Christians would use up ingredients like eggs, milk and sugar before the simpler season of Lent began… and what better way to do that than with pancakes!With over 300 pancakes flipped, stacked and served, it was a busy (and tasty!) morning. A huge thank you to our fantastic volunteers: Sally, Luke, Kerrianne, Lauren, Matt, Tom, Jenni, Chloe, John and Amber, for making it all happen.It was a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together, share a meal and prepare for the special season ahead. ... Fourteen of our superstar LLS swimmers dove into action at the Riverland School Sport Swimming Carnival today. 🏊💦There were ribbons galore 🎖️ and so many personal bests smashed in the pool. We couldn’t be prouder of the effort, determination and team spirit on display!Our relay legends were on fire, finishing 2nd overall in both the Freestyle and Medley relays, an incredible achievement! A huge thank you to Mr Wagner for coordinating this event and to all our wonderful parents and caregivers for your support. A special shout-out to Amanda Schulz for assisting with timekeeping. On Friday, we had the joy of presenting our Reception students with their very own Beginner’s Bible to take home and treasure. Our Year 3 students also received their very own Adventure Bibles, which they will use at school and take home with them when they finish their time at LLS.We are incredibly grateful to Riverview Rest Home and the Loxton Lutheran Parish for their generous support, which helps makes it possible for us to gift these special Bibles to our students. Thank you for helping nurture faith and learning in our school community.God’s Word truly is the greatest gift, guiding and growing our students in faith for years to come. ... See MoreSee Less
